Success at the Washington, DC Regional!

Our F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Competition team had a great time at the Washington, DC Regional last weekend. Due to a parts mixup towards the end of our build season, we arrived with our robot in several pieces, several of which had never been fitted together.

Veterans from several teams provided us with invaluable support, sharing their experience and often giving us the parts necessary to complete our designs. We would not have had nearly as good an experience without the great people from Area 53 (team 53), TechnoWarriors (team 768), Blue Cheese (team 1086), iLite Robotics (team 1885), and the Mighty Monkey Wrenches (team 2016).

In the end, we outranked several veteran teams, and received the Rookie Inspiration Award for our community outreach efforts.

Go Techtonics!
Ready to Roll
The final two sprockets have arrived courtesy of James, and John was able to find the #35 chain he has been hunting for days. By the end of Wednesday's meeting, we should have a drivable robot!
FIRST Robotics Game Manual Available!
Get a head start on your teammates by downloading this season's game manual from our Files section and reading it before the kickoff event!
Team 861B Receives a Judges Award!
Team 861B performed very well at the Southern Virginia Vex Robotics Competition, and earned the Judges Award! The Judges Award "goes to a team the judges decide is deserving of special recognition. Judges consider a number of possible criteria for this award, such as team displays of special attributes, exemplary effort and perseverance at an event, and team accomplishments or endeavors throughout the season that may not fall under existing awards - but are nonetheless deserving of special recognition."
Team 861 Receives an Excellence Award!
Team 861 won the Excellence Award at the Southern Virginia Vex Robotics Competition last Saturday! The Excellence Award is the highest honor awarded by the Vex Robotics Competition, given to the team that "exemplifies overall excellence in building a well-rounded VEX robotics program. This team excels in many areas and is a shining example of dedication, devotion, hard work, and teamwork. A strong contender in numerous award categories, this team deserves to be recognized for their accomplishments building a robot and in building a 'team' committed to quality in everything they do."
